Silly Question

Ok, I've just recently embarked on my low carb journey, and I'm in church this past Sunday and they begin to pass the Communion plate. I didn't panic at first, but then the thought of the sugary grape juice and carb infested saltine crackers began to cause my palms to sweat. Biting my nails, and holding my breath I took the cup and the bread. Thinking ok...ok.. "What would Jesus do?" "What would Jesus do?!"...Not that he'd be on a low carb diet, cuz he did like breaking bread! LOL! But still... So I don't know if it was the right thing to do, but I just silently motioned and said the prayer in my heart but didn't eat or drink.

So I was just wondering, what do you guys do?

I had that same panic when I first started. At our church we take a bit of bread from the loaf and dip it into the grape juice. Since I can control the amount, I do partake, but limit the size of the bread to about the eraser on a pencil. Hope this helps.

the size of the bread is soo tiny and the drop of juice is minimal so I count it as 2 just in case but I do it!

When I take the eucharist(Catholic) I paniced at first but then thought..it wasn't going to make or break me to consume it. However I do not take any wine during communion because I am a germ phobe and the thought of drinking from something that others have drank from scare me. I don't think you should really worry about it unless you find that it makes you go into a binge afterwards.

Jesus would ask you to think of what is in your heart.

In YOUR heart, is communion just a ceremony that you do in church or is it the body and blood of Christ? I think that God will give you a way to take communion if it is. (by not inhibiting your progress or causing binges)

(That question and answer is between you and Him. It's none of our business here if you don't wish it to be.)

I had the same question when I first started lowcarbing.

Now I just take the smallest piece of cracker in the bowl and the grape juice is in a tiny cup.

I think Jesus told me to not sweat the small stuff.

I just became Catholic on Saturday and I took both on Saturday at the Easter vigil and then again on Sunday at the mass. I think God will take care of me and don't worry about the small stuff.

I was in the same boat as all of you. i was afraid at first but not anymore. I take the bread and the cup. i only drink a sip of the cup and a small crumb of bread and then I make sure I am really strict the rest of the day as not to go over in carbs. I count 5 to be safe.

For me, God comes first. I believe in all my heart that God will continue to help me on my weightloss journey .

Like another OP said, it is between you and God. It is not any of our business.
