Planning Your Targets for Protein Power - do you?
I've been having trouble hitting my targets for PP. I'll do well for a meal or two, but miss on one of them (usually lunch, sadly).
I usually use Fitday online, but it's sort of a time black hole for me. So today I bought the Fitday PC program, and thus far it is really nice. Easier to use, quicker, with drop down scrolling choices for foods... It has a lot of the same things, just much better layout and functionality. I do wish it could interface with the online program to get all my old info. But I'm considering this a fresh start. All that to say, I set up my targets in the program, and I did well today! How do you all plan your Protein Power day? Or do you wing it?

I had a hard time at first, too.
Now I plan everything on fitday at the beginning of the day. And I divide up my food into 4 or 5 smaller meals. It's easier for me to stomach that way. I look at the protein for the whole day when I'm on fitday. I usually get more than enough! But each meal will vary. |

I use Fitday, too, and had a few problems hitting my protein requirements. I started having a smoothie with whey protein powder in the mornings and either a tuna or chicken salad at lunch. Those two items kept my levels up. Then for dinner I add a meat and a vegetable. I usually end up the day somewhere close or over my protein requirements.

I don't do much planning at all to meet my protein requirements, which is likely at least part of the reason I haven't lost anything past the initial 10 pounds.
![]() Lunch for me most days is a salad with some turkey cold cuts shredded on top and an oil-based dressing to get some fats into the mix; I did actually guesstimate early on how much of the turkey I would need to fill a single-meal protein number, which, at my size, means the lettuce is hidden under the meat. For other meals, there are so many variations in what and when I eat that I almost never try to keep track of anything but the carbs; I just try to toss back a whey protein drink of some sort once or twice a day to help boost my protein intake overall.

I don't do so well with protein shakes. I think I add too much stuff.
![]() I've been eating cottage cheese lately when my levels aren't where they should be. I've been ill, so sometimes getting in the meat is a chore. |

When I started making the shakes I added too much stuff and way to much DaVinci syrup. Then I didn't add enough stuff and they tasted bland. So, I played around with them for a while in order to find something I like. I also add a teaspoon of Fibersure to my smoothies to boost my fiber intake. Sometimes I make them with the Jay Robb Whey powder and water with 2 Tbsp. of cream. I have also made them with cottage cheese, berries, and powder. You just have to figure out what works for you.

Hmmm, putting cottage cheese IN my protein shake sounds pretty good. That would be a huge protein boost. Thanks for your thoughts on this. I used to put in too much fruit and sweetener, but some of those powders are pretty bland.
