There's this little wine shop by me that has these boutique wines. I really can't get enough. The problem is that since most of them are made by small producers, they run out of them (or I seem to buy them out). My wine budget was small this week - so I'll be drinking some regional Spanish wine. No Bordeaux for me.
The scale moved for me. I'm trying cycling my carbs and calories to get things moving. My goal is to eat at 1500 calories and 40-50 carbs one day and then 1300 calories and 30-40 carbs the next. It wasn't that hard to do. Just a little more planning in the AM. A cup of yogurt really can make the difference. Or an apple with Peanut Butter. It's been three days and I've lost 2.5 pounds.

I crashed and burned last week! Not by going off plan, but my body just started retaining water the WORST it ever has. I made some coconut bark, and I'm not sure if that started it, or if it was a coincidence. I haven't even had any alcohol other than Friday night. I'm wondering if the higher fat has thrown off my hormones?? I did start TOM today, so I hope that resolves it. The scale was WAY up this morning (like 5 lbs from my lowest), and I usually don't gain ANY weight at TOM. So this is really weird and I've been pretty miserable. I only ate 1239 calories yesterday and my weight was up 3 lbs overnight.
This really sucks. |

Dharma -- I'm so sad for you. I wonder what the *&^* is going on. That would have me so frustrated. That much weight gain in that short of time has to be water weight.
water weight = not real Drink a lot of water. I make myself some diluted green tea and drink it cold from a 36 oz. container. That always helps me with the water weight gain. Hope things get better. ![]() |

Checking in!
{{Dharma}} I have no idea *what* my body does when TOM comes, I get only a couple cycles every couple years between babies and nursing. So I'm reading with interest, but have no strategies to share. Sounds for sure like TOM water retention, though. Twyla, I'm another wine drinker. Only a couple times a week. I have a bordeaux chilling right now! Not sure how well it will go with corned beef & cabbage, though. ![]() Wow, Peachy, I'd love to try that, but I'm so sloppy with my eating lately. Congrats on the scale moving! Sandy, you'll beat those cravings soon. Have you tried L-Glutamine? I've never tried it, but hear it can work wonders. Well. I dumped 5 lbs this week, but it was a regain in the first place. So, not stellar, but at least I'm heading the right direction again. Yesterday we were at the In Laws, and I did the best I could. SIL made a soup with pork and chorizo, but it had hominy and pintos in it also. I ate it anyway, much better than the ham sandwiches and pasta salad choices. Ate mozzarella, cheddar, and colby slices, green olives and a dill pickle. I had a tiny taste of a vanilla/banana pudding, and when SILs diabetic mother told me she made it with SF pudding, I had a little more. I was pretty proud of myself for not falling face first into the chocolate death gooey butter cake SIL baked. ![]() Anybody else having traditional Irish fare today?

Well, I'm down another pound. This cycling is working for me. I'm down 3.5 pounds so far.
I wonder if anyone will notice how much weight I've lost at Easter dinner. I've lost 18.5 pounds so if just one person notices I'll be happy. |

Wow Peachy 18.5lbs is really fantastic!
I'm reading The Diet Cure. It's a fantastic read. It's too soon to tell, but think it fits with PPLP. Have a great day, sandy |

That is excellent, Peachy! What are you eating on your higher carb days?
I want to read that, Sandy, but that means I have to go to a different town's library. I'm a supplement kind of gal, so that's no problem. I took the pre-test in the Diet Cure thread, and I have the starved brain, low thyroid, and sugar instability. SO. ![]() |

Hot Mama -- On my higher carb days I've been adding yogurt and berries, or an apple and peanut butter, or some pineapple. Sometimes I make chicken with breading on it, sometimes soup. You name it. I still have been staying away from grains. I just got my low carb granola from netrition so I think I'll probably have some of that tomorrow. It's a shame it came on a down day!
So I cleaned out my closet yesterday and found my favorite jeans from the Gap. SIZE 10 They fit!!!!!! You know I'm pimpin' 'em out today! No tight shirt with them yet -- major muffintop -- but soon. |

Great job, Peachy! Even when I got down to 146, the lowest size I got into was a 12, and just barely.
![]() I bought a bunch of frozen berries yesterday, maybe I'll try that. Grains don't like me, either. My kids do eat some, but certainly not 9-11 servings! |

Happy Saturday!
Today there is tons of snow outside! I can't wait until the weather changes so my girlfriend and I can go walking before work. It really gets my day off to a good start! I was off plan a little yesterday and today -- so we'll see what the damage is tomorrow. I need to stay away from the Easter candy for sure. One little m&m and I'm face first into chocolate. Repeat after me : Holidays are not a reason to eat, Holidays are not a reason to eat, Holidays are not a reason to eat. I'm off to color eggs. Looks like there will be some boiled eggs in my future ![]() |

{{Peachy}} I've been safe so far, we haven't gotten any candy yet. But we will tonight. I'd best NOT get the crispy coated little cadbury eggs. I bought some Baker's chocolate so I can make some SF confection at home if I must have something.
Hold fast! ![]() |

ARGH! Dove dark chocolate. Nuff said. Dinner, however, will be ham and asparagus. So that will be good, LC eating.

I have to admit to having one of those little malted milkball eggs. Just one. It was in my mouth before I realized what I was doing. Just like that!
The rest of the day was good. Had meat and vegetable. And wine. Of course. Today the scale was up a little, but I'm sure it is water -- there is no way I gained 2.5 pounds overnight. Must be water weight. I'm wearing my size 10's today. I'm squeezed in tight with muffin top -- but my legs look awesome! All that working out. I really couldn't be happier. I only have boiled eggs for lunch -- a pitiful lunch -- but the cupboard was bare. It's probably a good thing because I don't know how much food I could fit in these pants! Have a good day! |

I finally signed up at the PP board. I am NaeMo there, I've seen a couple familiar names over there. I've been struggling and not planning, but yesterday and today I plugged in my food into fitday. I can sure EAT! LOL! Just trying to work some fruit into my plan. That is so different from Atkins, which is what I originally did.
I think I finally had my light bulb moment! Intervention level is 7-10g *per meal*, and the 7g level comes out right around Atkins induction levels. DOH! I was looking at the dearth of carbs in my menu today when I realized I hit 21 ECC exactly! So I'm happier with my menu after that realization. ![]() Just wanted to share. I hope everyone is having a great week! |

Hello all! Today is going to be a good day! I can feel it in my bones. I'm not looking forward to going to work out today. It's my weigh and measure day. I am not sure I lost anything this month. We'll see.

Hi! I was wondering if you all would mind one more addition. I was looking over this thread and I noticed some wine lovers! That is me to a T. I have been doing LC for a couple of months now and just love it. I had a chocolate craving this weekend, it's that TOM. I made a LC chocolate macadamia bark...so yummy!
I think I am stalled on weightloss though. I have stayed the exact same for a few weeks now. If anyone has any pointers that would be great. I have cut out almost all sweets except for sunday a LC dessert and only two glasses of wine on Friday and Saturday nights. Any thoughts would be helpful!

Hey Stacey - I'm another wine lover! (I live in Littleton, btw).
I'm having the hardest time losing right now. You're a lot closer to goal than me, and it does get harder the smaller we get. (Not that I'm small!!) I went 2 weeks with no alcohol and at first the scale was moving but then it stopped dead cold. I was trying a higher fat WOE but I don't think it's the best way for me to lose. I think it will be awesome for maintenance. Don't get me wrong, I'm NOT EVER doing low fat again. That really messed me up. Just not gonna force myself to eat 80% - I just can't seem to get there really. I'm gonna do Protein Power again, using the minimums: 30 grams carbs, 60 grams protein, 100 grams fat. I think with this I'm safe as far as getting all the nutrients I need, but still lower calories to kick me into losing. I HAVE to lose 15 lbs before July 20th - I'm going to Cancun and will be in a swimsuit the whole time!! |

Dharma~Wow you are close to me. Do you like Colorado? I have been here almost two years, but I am definitly an east coast kinda gal. I miss the ocean
I agree low fat suck! It is definitly not the way fro me either. I think I will try your way with the wine though. Just skip the rest of my carbs at dinner and have wine instead. Thanks for the idea! |

My name is Lisa...
I'm from Louisiana and here is WAY better! I don't miss the humidity and mosquitoes. I do miss the beach, as we used to go to Florida every summer on vacation. I'm thinking if it stays cold instead of warming up I wanna retire somewhere warmer though ![]() Heading home now.... have a good evening. |

May I join in?
I am currently on Atkins and thinking of switching to PP as it has a better variety of food and I think it is much more flexible to an extent. I bought the book titled 30 Day, sorry cannot remember the whole title last night and have commenced reading it so I feel pretty excited to start sometime soon. I have just ordered myself the PPLP from Amazon and cannot wait to get it. I have started Atkins on March 28, 2008, so it has been a little over a month and I do like it, but I feel it does not give one the flexibility. The rungs I don't agree with. It takes forever to get from one rung to the next only to know if your body can take it or not. I hope I succeed with the PP. Hope to get to know you all soon. |
