Congratulations Tamale!!

I meant to post a congratulations earlier. But I got side tracked by actual 0work!

Imagine!? I have that problem every Friday. When the pay checks come around I start looking up airfares, and the cycle of emails planning the weekend is constant.

But your sucess truly deserves comment. Before I noticed that it was close to an 80 pound loss for you. My comment would have read more like that than breaking into the 200s! I didn't even notice that! I'm a little dense sometimes. So extra congratulations for that too!

Feel better soon!

Hey ladies! Well, I'm just about to go get caught up on this thread...

Today's Menu:
B- pepperoni slices (speak of the devil), flavored tuna fish (3)
S- coffee w/cream and sf flavoring (4)
L- ham, dill pickles (6)
D- fajita salad (6)
TOTAL = 19 carbs / 3 liters of water
(walking to park later)

Oh... and I walked 3.5 miles at the gym yesterday! Woo-hoo! I also had dinner with my DH at my Grandma's and PASSED on the yummy-looking raspberry pie (one of my favs), but did enjoy some sliced strawberries with splenda and some cream!

Also, today's my 8 month anniversary of being married to my wonderful hubby and I'm just about back down to my wedding weight! Woo-hoo!

I think I need to try to get back to some basics... aim for lower carbs per day and drink WAY more water! Thanks for the inspiration and keep up the amazing work!!!

bwylde, WTG on losing 10 pounds. Woo hoo! I'm so sorry to hear about your fall and your injured knee. What do you mean you were ridiculed? At the hospital? That really chaps my hide! Well I hope you are feeling better now, and remember to take it easy.

Doing, Congrats on the continuing weight loss! Your plan seems to be working well for you...why fix it if it ain't broke?

I am so envious of all the trips you have taken all over the world. Wow a safari! I have always wanted to do that. Do you find that your weight is a hinderance as far as doing a lot of walking, endurance, etc? I grocery shop for an hour and I'm worn out. My hips feel like they are grinding together bone-on-bone.

I hear ya on the cost of water. I've gotten used to tap water on ice. It doesn't taste so bad cold. hehe. In the past I've filtered my tap water with a Brita filter but those can get expensive too...and I always get frustrated at having to refill the darned thing 5 or 6 times a day. My husband and I both drink a lot of water so bottled water is not an option. Just too expensive.

Regarding snacks: individually wrapped cheese sticks are a lifesaver for me. They don't need to be refrigerated. I also buy huge cans of nuts at Costco and divide them up into 1 oz. servings and put them in those little mini ziplocs. I bought some tiny 1/2 cup size disposable Ziploc containers (although I wash and reuse forever) and you can put ranch dressing in there and bring along a baggie full of cut up veggies. Or sometimes if I can afford the carbs, fill it halfway with peanut butter (1/4 cup) and dip celery sticks into it. Sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds. There's not much LC stuff in the stores anymore. I finally went to Trader Joes yesterday and they no longer carry LC bread.

Laura, how goes the job search? Are your kitties still terrorizing the blinds?

Deb, 8 cats! Wow. I have 3. Adopted 2 from a shelter a couple of years ago--they are around 7 years old now. And I have an almost-3 year old little stinker that I found wandering in my apt. parking lot when she was just a tiny baby. Covered in motor oil and meowing pitifully. I wish I could get a 4th cat as a playmate for her. She wants to play all the time and the older cats just want to sleep and eat. hah! Love the kitty pix. When I first saw "oh hi I fixed your blinds" months ago I couldn't stop saying it....I think it's hilarious. =) Thanks for linking that muffin recipe. I'm going to try making them this weekend!

Angie, great quote. A positive attitude is so important in life. How's stuff going for you?

Sally, how goes the reinduction?

Zer, good job on keeping your water bottles filled, and it sounds like you've been fixing yourself some yummy LC foods this week. KUTGW and I'm sure the Woosh Fairy will reward you.

Susan, congrats on your new baby girl!

Hot Tamale, looks like you are firmly entrenched in the 200's now. WooHoo! Sorry for all the stress you've been going thru but I'm proud of you for sticking with your eating plan. Good job!

Heather, good on you for making healthy LC choices at grandma's house! Excellent job on the exercise front as well. Happy 8 month anniversary!

Cleo, you are just on fire, girl! I am so impressed with all of these recipes you are coming up with. I'm bound and determined to make those ooopsie rolls this weekend.

I lost a pound on Tuesday morning and got into the 320's. But due to sketchy sleep patterns and poor eating choices I've been going back up a pound--down a pound all week. Mostly a lot of high sodium, processed stuff. This past week was finals week at school. So hopefully with that all behind me I can get myself back on a good sleep schedule and make better food choices. Hopefully I'll drop another pound or two before next Monday's weigh in.

I finally went to Trader Joe's yesterday. I've lived in Portland for over 3 yrs now and I always knew it was there, just never made the time to drive over there. I got some rosemary Marcona almonds. Yummy but expensive. A big bag of spinach. Gunna make me a wilted spinich salad with bacon and pine nuts I have in the freezer. Also bought some gorgeous red and green peppers. Going to make a meatloaf with those, and maybe some taco meat. Bought a bag of frozen wild, organic blueberries and some of that Greek yogurt. The yogurt is wonderful! Just added a drop or two of liquid Splenda and a spoonful of frozen blueberries. Used one of my 1/2 cup ziploc containers as a serving dish so I wouldn't go overboard with the yogurt. It's thick and creamy and delicious. I love the tiny wild blueberries but not fond at all of the giant ones they sell in regular grocery stores....so glad I went to TJ's and found these little gems. Planning on trying that coconut flour blueberry muffin recipe that Deb linked. I've had that bag of C. flour in the freezer for at least a year now. I'm always buying stuff from Netrition then never using it. I get caught up in all these recipe fads on the boards...but then I'm too lazy to ever make anything with the stuff. I've got like half a gallon of coconut oil just sitting around too.

Have a great Friday everyone!

afternoon ladies! woot hottamale your kickin bootie! I'm hangin in, eating simple this week trying to keep things on track. I have a goal of no fast food during the work week! This is a hard one, I normally grab something on way to work cause Im always always running late. I set the alarm early this morning and forced myself to not hit the snooze button but actually haul my bootie out of bed. I managed to actually fix my face for a change...for its mighty scary lately without the war paint, and actually had time to cook breakfast amazing I know. Im loving my little omelet maker from walgreens, it makes perfect over medium eggs too which I always manage to screw up.
well enough of my afternoon rambling, just wanted to check in with you all and tell you all I am thinking of you!!! Have a great weekend!

Hi-
Mona-no positive answers on the job search right now. Kitties are still being naughty but I love them. Have to find a solution somehow, though-or going to be replacing blinds often

Best wishes on dropping that pound and a couple more by monday. I know the feeling. I am going to do everything I cna to be in twoterville by monday and making it stick. This could be a challenge as I have plans to go out to lunch and dinner with a friend Saturday, visiting with my brother and his wife Sunday at lunch (good news is they are following LC too) and then the church is having a fellowship potluck sunday night and we're signed up to go. Gotta think of some LC induction foods I can take with me as that will most likely be my dinner that night and we all know we need a good low salt, LC dinner sunday to see happy things on the scale Monday!

I hope we all are happy with the scale when it is time to weigh in!

Hi everyone! Congrats to everyone on their losses!
Cleo, I made your cauliflower pizza tonight and it was a hit with the whole family. Even my picky "I don't want anything to eat...ever" 3 year old son was loving it! Thanks for your great recipes! I was also able to "hold" a burger for the first time in a while a few days ago thanks to your oopsie rolls!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Verticals? To foil kitties who play with horizontal blinds?

Free swinging verticals MIGHT last longer than horizontal blinds, if nothing will keep the cats out of that window. I'd still try a noisy motion detector to spook cats, such as a wing-flapping talking-parrot or barking-dog. Google to find one you can tolerate. A friend had a ho-ho-ho Santa, but that is a seasonal thing. Maybe you will find an assortment, to shift as you will.

I too have stuff stuffed in my freezer that I bought for some LC baking that never got done. I'm still buying my coconut oil by the jar, but maybe I ought to be buying the half-gallon size as fast as I go through a jar. I use a couple Tbs in a hot slosh, less to scramble an egg, and am mixing a bit of coconut oil with tea tree oil for using on skin in places that seem distressed. It's a great treatment for feet and hands too!

Mind games

Mindful of my plan to weigh first thing Saturday morn, I am drinking LOTS of water in hopes of flushing out some of the carby stuff that I've been yielding to. Nothing wonderful, just trivial trash. Can't even say "it was worth it" to salve my sense of having failed myself by giving in to the impulse to put stuff into my mouth. What ~IS~ it about thinking that a bite of this or that won't hurt? AGHHH! I'm too old to be so self-deluded. Anyway, I'm steering clear of the temptation zone and hoping to see a downward direction tomorrow morn. Any downward direction will be welcome - as I sense I do not 'deserve' more than that given my predilection for snapping up passing carbs like a lizard or a frog catching flies. I'm working on that image to slow down the speed with which I betray myself when there is illicit food at hand. Rib-bit...rib-bit...SNAP!

Laura, how's the weather in Augusta? Got high winds?

Caught this story of a tornado in Atlanta and am wondering if there are winds this powerful elsewhere in Georgia: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/be...yone-okay.html

If scent 'sends' you, try this thread!

Better than chocolate? Yes, scent is even more intoxicating than chocolate! See http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/be...vers-come.html for what promises to be an interesting discussion of various scents.

St.Patrick's Day, March 17 ~ Try out some new greens!

Sounds like a great LC goal: Make St.Patrick's Day a 'green' day, by trying out some greens that are new to you. New salad greens. New cooked greens.

Have a healthy LC day - and may all your carbs be GREEN CARBS!

Zer-sometimes we get high winds and tornadoes here too. Yesterday we just got rain but they're predicting severe weather with hail, damaging winds and possible tornadoes this afternoon/early evening.

Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend.

email i got today...LONG

Sounds good why not give it a try.....what could it hurt?

THIS IS NOT THE 'DON'T BUY' GAS FOR ONE DAY, BUT IT WILL SHOW YOU HOW WE CAN GET GAS BACK DOWN TO $1.30 PER GALLON.

This was sent by a retired Coca Cola executive. It came from one of his engineer buddies who retired from Halliburton. If you are tired of the gas prices going up AND they will continue to rise this summer, take time to read this please.

Phillip Hollsworth offered this good idea.
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy gas on a certain day' campaign that was going around last April or May!
It's worth your consideration. Join the resistance!!!!

I hear we are going to hit close to $ 4.00 a gallon by next summer, and it might go higher!! Want gasoline prices to come down?

We need to take some intelligent, united action. The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to 'hurt' ourselves by refusing to buy gas.

It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them.
BUT, whoever thought of this idea has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read on and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.19 for regular unleaded in my town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50 - $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.

The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.

But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.

If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices.
If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x10 = 3,000)...and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers.
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!

If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!

(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people.... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am . so trust me on this one.

How long would all that tak e? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days !!!

I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you!
Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. I suggest that we not buy from EXXON/MOBIL UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $2.00 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK.

Keep it going!!!

One day I'll see your pawprints glowing,Sparkling in the morning dew,Guiding me at my time of going, Leading me sunwards, back to you.
