I think it's the other way around, Jared made Subway a star

However I still can't believe it's been 10 years.

I need to SHOUT!

Fer the heck of it, I stepped on the scale a moment ago to see how much I would pay in fluid retention for having salty popcorn last night at the movies.

To my shock, I'd dropped some more since yesterday!

I'd been kinda bummed cuz I was workin so hard and never seeing the numbers go down for 3 weeks then all of a sudden today I'm down another 6.6 pounds!

358.9

I've now lost 129.1 pounds

My short term goal was to be 350 by May 1st. I believe I'm going to make it

Morning ladies! (well afternoon...)

I'm up a pound....got sloppy with my eating yesterday. We were out for a drive and hubby was so hungry he was super crabby so we stopped at KFC. I ordered an original breast but they only had crispy so I got that. Had I known it was 15 carbs instead of 7 I would've passed. Heck, I wasn't even that hungry. I think I just wanted to have a "naughty treat" since we had another Potluck at school. I didn't participate in the Potluck this time. I brought my own food and totally avoided all the goodies. On the one hand I felt proud of myself, but on the other hand I felt ripped off, like I always do when I'm around so many goodies and I can't have any. So I rebelled with my extra crispy KFC breast. So I will have to be extra careful this weekend. I would like to be in the 320's for my Monday weigh-in.

Mona - Isn't it appaling that one stupid piece of chicken - that's technically not even a carby item - can mess us up so badly? Makes me MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It could be all the salt in that chicken though, too...drink lotsa watta!! It might help!

bad bad bad

I did something bad. I went for Chinese last night. We were having a huge conversation when the waiter came to take the order, so I ordered w/o looking at the menu. I COULD have done better, had I read the menu. I COULD have scoured for something w/o breading in a soy sauce that is salty rather than sweet. But I didn't want to hold the whole process up, and we were going to share once it all got brought to the table anyway. So I ordered General Tso's, and participated in the Crab Rangoon. I did bad. I went from fairly dark on the ketostix to just barely purple. Apparently still in it though.

And the scale stayed at 326.2. Which should be frustrating, but since I did it to myself w/ the chinese I should just be glad it didn't go up. I think the only thing that saved my life was that I had swam a mile and a half immediately before dinner. So I skated by.

This afternoon we went to a movie, and I had a latte. Which is usually okay once a week or so. But I think w/ the chinese indiscretion I had better haul my butt to the gym and eat a plain burger for dinner. I didn't stay out w/ everyone else going for dinner after. Which is good - it saved me from a second un planned group dinner, and from spending more money when I already owe my vacation savings $100. I really need to reign in my spending AND my eating. If I can stay good tonight, and tomorrow I'll be okay come Monday. Here's hoping the fondue doesn't kill it!!

Mona I totally sympathize! And I should really be following Fiber's lead on being good and looking forward to rewards! Then I might be able to get psyched for EARNING them!

I've been trying to imagine what it might be like to have known one's spouse almost all of one's life. Had a cousin who married his childhood sweetheart. What a dynamic duo! I wish your duo well in their plans for a life together.

So she is already a daughter to you, and you are tight with her family too? What a dreamy situation, for both of the families, to see these kids are such a good match. Have they set a date?

Jared's dad is an MD, if you can believe what Jared Fogle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia says, yet he got fat and fatter as a kid. No help, apparently, from his doctor-dad who told him his weight was going to cut his life short. What really amazes me is that Subway had to track down Jared after they heard someone had devised a weight-loss plan based on walking and on eating sandwiches - Subway sandwiches - that are heaped with oodles of food. He did not approach Subway himself, as a plan to reap benefits from his sandwich/walking weight loss plan.
Quote:
He developed his own "Subway diet", consisting of a 6-inch turkey club sandwich for lunch, and a foot-long veggie sub for dinner. After three months on the diet, he had lost nearly 100 pounds, and weighed in at 330 pounds (150 kg). He stuck with the diet and soon began to walk as much as he could, rather than using transport, and would even walk up the stairs rather than take an elevator. By the end of the diet Jared lost over 240 pounds.
So, even with bread and other carby stuff, a guy who WALKS a lot CAN take off weight by moving his muscles. I bet that he's still committed to walking up stairs instead of taking the elevator. And isn't that just what Mireille says French women do? Take the stairs, walk everywhere, and eat with gusto! Yay! I'm energized each time I read what she writes in 'French Women Don't Get Fat'. See French Women Don't Get Fat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia for more.

Goat update...

My LC friend who is goatfarming on 10acres has just birthed 19 kids from her herd of goats. With all of that to care for, plus a milk cow, she is busy and is getting more than enough exercise without having to hit a gym. Oh, yeah!

Leap ahead an hour tonight!

I wonder how this will affect our internal clocks, this springtime cheat of an hour's sleep as we turn our clocks forward for Daylight Savings Time so that it will once again be dark at 6am - at least for a while, until the sun catches up and brings us light earlier and earlier. How will our earlybird LC exercisers adjust to the time change? Workers have to rise and shine with less sleep. Appetites are challenged, I wager, by the artificial timechange.

Whoever came up with the idea, I wish someone would STOP the idiocy of shifting time twice a year. Is the USA the only place that does it? Nope. Why was Arizona smart enough to avoid getting caught up in the foolishness of meddling with time? Anyone know the story? Ah, Wiki shows a map at Daylight saving time - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia that gives us an idea of how many people do not play silly games with their timepieces. Wiki also lays out some of the pros/cons of this practice that was first proposed in 1907:
Quote:
Adding daylight to afternoons benefits retailing, sports and other activities that exploit sunlight after working hours, but causes problems for farming, entertainment and other occupations tied to the sun. Extra afternoon daylight reduces traffic fatalities....
Guess I'd better start turning clocks ahead, so I'll be on time Sunday morn for whatever may arise.

It was a comment about TOM which I was amazed that I'm in synch with so many people on the boards already when I just recently joined. Truthfully, I forgot which thread all the mentions of it were in...so I never reposted the comment.

What sort of work are you looking for? Any job or a psych-prof job? As I think of finding work in a trimmer body, I am certain that I shall want a more active job than the career that put me into a chair behind a desk for hours at a time. I'd sit for eight hours or more at a stretch. Bad for a body. Made my hips blossom. I had a temp job once that was so physically demanding that it wore me out, but I could see how important it was to stay fit. People older than I were able to stand and work all day long, just because their job calls for that level of activity. Maybe a temp job that is physically active would be good for you, right now, as you work to burn calories fast.

Having a car is nice. Finding work within walking distance is one of my goals. I did apply to several jobs within a few blocks of where I live. I emphasized my proximity as part of my reason for seeking work close to home. Cannot say it made an impression on anyone, as I got tales of long commutes from the people I hoped would hire me. But it is an idea I have, to work close enough that I have the option to walk to and from a job.

For me, walking needs to be focused. Just aimless walking seems senseless, even as I know it burns calories. What I want is walking purposefully, with a destination. Just walking to expend calories? Not a high priority. Just not.

Zer-I'm looking for a job that can become a career-something that I can feel good about and that can actually allow me to support myself-without any income from Valerio as that will end eventually. The job market is pretty slim right now here but I'm going tog et out there and see what i can find. You have to be ready when opportunity knocks!

As for walking-I find walking on a treadmill or around a track to be a time for me to think and reflect on things-have some time for myself. I also use it as a time to refocus and use some mental imaging of what I want to be one day in the not too distant future. If I have someone with me, it is a time to talk and share and just be out with someone nice. I think any time I exercise, it is an investment in myself and my future and that's certainly not mindless and worth every ounce of energy. Different strokes for different folks, though. The guy at the gym told me the other day he hates the treadmill-gets bored after 10 minutes and has to do something else... Eventually, I hope to be in much better shape and do sports of various kinds because they are fun not because of the exercise they involve. That day will come and I am goig to get as healthy as I can in the meantime!

Everyone ready for the weigh in tomorrow? I'm hoping to hit twoterville..

So, another weekend... and another day off plan!

DH and I went to an all day meeting/retreat yesterday for our church leadership team and we ended up eating off plan... then continuing the splurge at my brother's birthday party. It wasn't planned... but we're back on plan today and I don't feel too bad about it (especially since the cake that my sister-in-law made is my FAVORITE EVER and was truly worth every carb!). What I am disappointed about is that I'd finally broken through my stall... but, I'm still down as of now... and I plan to keep on keepin' on, and that's the most important thing!

Today's Menu:
Brunch- fried eggs, bacon (5)
Dinner- tuna that we're bringing with us or whatever they have that's on plan at our small group potluck tonight (2+)
TOTAL = 7 carbs + / 3 liters of water
