Dharma -- so glad you are doing better. That high fat thing worked for me before. It was just hard to eat enough food. I was almost never hungry.

I am up pounds. It's just so discouraging. And I know that I've done it to myself. That's what is so awful. I keep telling myself that even with gaining a few pounds I've still lost 15 pounds. But it's hard to see the scale go up, up, up.

{{Peachy}} It will come off again.

We sort of made Sundays "free days" lately. It's difficult! And of course, it stops my losses dead. I am NOT 158 right now (162 again). I'm trying to be good, though. It's harder with no beef in the house.

I made up a good chicken recipe last night. I can't eat plain chicken breast, so I dressed it up. I don't have any nutritional info on it, though. I'll post the recipe in a bit...

Dharma, where's a rundown of the Polish doctor's plan? Just curious. I'm glad it's working for you! I tried the Eat Fat, Get Thin plan, but following the threads I think people made it too complicated, and I didn't lose on it well. So I want to stick with what works for me (when I actually *do* it! ).

Hi there,

Congrats Dharma on taming the beast!

I find when I eat really low carbs I can eat plenty of fat and lose. For me personally I feel best with a higher percentage of protein though.

I've had too many free meals lately and feel depressed and definitely not on track.

(without all the spaces). I don't think I'm supposed to link to it. Beware though: it has some pretty weird food in the plan. I just use it for the ratios, but they're really not much different from EFGT. I just like to read new stuff. You still kinda have to measure, weigh and record your food to make sure you're on track. You have to compute your protein needs - it's easy to overdo it. That part is a little complicated, but I only plan on doing it til I get to goal. I hate having to journal all my food, but giving it up is what got me where I am now! Eyeballing stuff is harder than I thought it would be.

I don't really follow any ONE high fat plan - I think I'll just say I'm doing 80% fat and leave it at that!!

Gotcha! Thanks for the link.

What I didn't like about EFGT was when you calculate the protein, that locks you into a calorie count, KWIM? So I had a hard time with it. My calorie needs are a tad higher nursing a baby, and I just didn't wanna do it! But just using ratios, that would be okay with me. Does that even make any sense? I'm glad it's working for you - maybe someday I'll try a banta-esque diet again.

Renae's Fiesta Chicken!

5 lbs Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast (you can halve this recipe if you don't need this much, I cook for 10 of us)
1/2 - 1 tsp garlic powder
1 large can Petite Diced Tomatoes, drained
1 can black olives, chopped coarsely
1 med-lg onion, sliced
1 tsp Cilantro
1/4 tsp Basil
2-3 Tblsp red wine (or cider) vinegar
1 small can mild red Enchilada sauce

Put the chicken in a big pan, sprinkle on garlic powder.
Sprinkle on the chopped black olives and sliced onion.
Dump a big can of petite diced tomatoes on top, put cilantro, basil, a little more garlic giggle, some cumin, a splash of vinegar on the tomatoes.
Top it all with a can of red enchilada sauce.
Bake until done, around 30 minutes.

Add some shredded cheddar/jack cheese on top to melt. ENJOY!

It tasted a lot like my enchiladas, but without all the carbs!

Oh, I did it this way because I didn't have salsa, you can sub salsa for the diced tomatoes, then you can leave out the vinegar, basil, and some of the garlic powder. You want the veggies in there!

OMG that chicken sounds delish! I don't think my family would eat it though. Too many foods touching.

I tried Banta for awhile and actually gained weight. I definitely love fat! Eating it, not being it.

I am in the middle of a little binge and I can't seem to stop. I am promising myself that I'm still going to post so that I don't chuck it all and gain the 15 I lost already plus more. It's just a deviation. A little break from the lifestyle. I am not going back to this full time. God help me get back on track when this is over. Hopefully it won't snowball. Hopefully it will rev up my metabolism. Hopefully I'll be able to stop.

At least I have hope!

Peachy, just stay with us, okay. I'm glad you posted.

Are you getting in your protein? I had to look up the chart again, and I am supposed to be eating 34g per meal. I've been slacking off. I added an extra sausage for breakfast, but I've been skipping meals. I need to shop, but the moola is tight right now.

And the chicken was really good. The cheese makes it!

Peachy it won't snowball if you put on the brakes now. You have been a great inspiration to me so please hang in there. I love reading the posts here even though I barely get time to write. You all are awesome here. I am excited that I have lost 6 pounds so far and am getting better sugar reading each day. Thanks for the encouragement . Deb

I have lots of energy. I actually feel my metabolism speeding up.

I don't want to snack between meals; don't even think about food except when I'm eating.

I'm ENJOYING my meals for the first time in a LONG time.

Hopefully this is what works for me.
Dharma,

Bring me up to date. When did you begin the higher fat strategy, how many days ago?

I'm doing it now because it's the days preceding TOM, during which I have ZERO control over cravings, so it's best to limit carbs to the max, protein moderate, and fat out the roof!

Peach, I feel your pain.

Okay -- I think I'm back under control. That was a little scary for awhile. I just couldn't stop eating. There seemed to be carbs everywhere. I made some very poor choices and my weight is now up, up, up. 6 1/2 pounds up. That is just crazy. It took me a month to lose it and a week to gain it back. I'm hoping it melts off and that most of it is water. I'm going to be super good this week. I'm going to exercise. I'm going to drink water. I'm going to stop this craziness!

Peachy, we give ourselves a free day (Sunday), and I'm getting better at it. The first Sunday was a free for all. Took all week to not feel out of whack. And I gained, too. Today was better. I did have a pastry after church, and a piece of my son's birthday cake (which wasn't all that, and *I* made it). But I skipped the mashed potatoes, and kept low carb for dinner. So I guess I'm still learning.

Hey speedy!

I'm doing much better now. My free week (ok, ten days) is over. When I added it up I had eaten off plan 7 times . I'm trying to think positively and am looking at all of the meals I stayed on plan for. I guess it could have been worse. Thanks for the support!

May I join in this thread?? started PP on 3/9..need support!

hi all...I was doing Atkins for about 2 weeks and found I did great the first week, then got WEAK...I "cheated" with a few more carbs, and lost 3 lbs...I was thinking and thinking about this...Then, I remembered...PP...I did this diet a few years ago and had great success.....I have the PP book.....so I re-read it and of course, it makes sense...I haven't taken the time to calculate my requirements,..(I'm heavier than I was 4 yrs ago...and had my 3rd child 2 yrs ago...my body has drastically changed!) Anyway, I feel so much better with a little more carbs and higher protein...I don't have a lot to lose about 15 total...so I began exercising more regularly and will attempt PP with your support...Thanks...Also, is there a recipe thread? Beth

Good morning everyone, sorry I was gone for a few days but my dad has been in the hospital and I have been sick myself with a terrible cold.
So far I have lost 7 pounds my first week of PPLP and I am so happy about that. You have all been so encouraging.

Beth, we don't have a recipe thread per se, just a what we happen to post here. Go to the recipe room and you'll find GOBS of recipes with carb counts.

Beth -- If you give me your height and weight I can give you your protein level from PPLP. It's much easier than the method in PP. So glad you're here!

Renae -- I don't think I could do a free day -- too much temptation. I am thinking about doing a little mini carb cycle. I'll let you know how that goes.

Bailey -- Way to go on the weight loss! Welcome Back.

Thank you Peachy..I'm 5'4" and 146.. a few more questions

hi there...thanks so much for checking on this...Also, I don't know if this matters, but I am larger "boned" than most girls I know who are also 5'4" ...so I generally look better at around 125-130 lbs...NOT in the teens as some suggest....My goal for mid May is 133, but I'll be happy at 135..thanks, again...and any words of wisdom appreciated...Beth

Beth -- You should be having 27 grams of protein for each meal. That's the minimumamount -- not the max. I'm supposed to have the same and I average about 100 grams a day. I divide mine up into smaller meals -- but it comes out okay.

I guess you can't avoid the fat with the protein? I'm using Fitday to help me track...I'm having a hard time getting up to 27!!!

Beth, don't worry about (or try to avoid) the fat that is part of your protein.

Hi there,

Beth!
Bailey! Way to go on the weight loss!

I've had a few bad eating days. Finding it hard to get back on track, but I work tomorrow and it's usually easier to eat 'normally' on a work day. why is that? I think it's the routine of it all.

I get messed up without my routine!

Hello everyone!

I've been doing my fitday in the morning -- it really helps me keep on track. For me, planning is essential.

I'll give you today's boring menu. It's not much fun.

B: Protein Shake (Designer Whey and SoySlender)
S: Protein Shake
L: LC tortilla with turkey and swiss, 1/2 cup cottage cheese
D: Pork Roast and broccoli, wine

I could probably eat more if I gave up the wine, but I really don't plan on doing that. I'm exercising today, so I may have a little protein snack after my workout. It's hard to know -- but I have room in my calories and carbs.

Calories: 1197
Fat: 44
Carb: 20
Protein: 121

Hi gals! I need to plan like you, Peachy. I don't, but I need to!

I felt ill this morning, so all I've had today is a few T of peanut butter, then drained yogurt w/berries, and just now a handful of grapes. Not very much protein. I'll go see if I have a protein powder in the cabinet somewhere. If not, I'll have a low carb slimfast. Not the best, but...
