Hi everyone-
congrats to Valerie and Sally, Mona and Cris and Kim!
Cleo-hope all is well with you and glad you found the new thread!
Angie-sorry about your FIL and hope you can make the trip soon.
Amm-hope the workouts are successful-you're so dedicated and inspiring! Happy anniversary!!!
Skittlesmom-congrats on staying on plan and what book did you get? I have gone to several worldcons and have met many authors and folks from the sci-fi genre.

Happy birthday to all our pisces folks-I'm actually an aries.

I woke up the last two mornings to the sounds of songbirds chirping and singing and I was so grateful for that. It is much different than waking to the sound of traffic. I wonder if I will hear birds at my new place. I know I will hear trains since it is next to railroad tracks! The flowers and trees are in bloom here and the weather has been gorgeous (expecting rain for tomorrow and the next day but that's ok-the plants need it). The kitties are over at the new place and I visit them several times a day. They're scared since no one is there and there's no furniture or anything. Hopefully I will be able to move in and I can start have a normal day/routine with them within the next 3 weeks.

I weighed in this morning and I was at 303. Just 4 pounds to twoterville and I am HOPING so much that next monday I will be able to say I am there. I am supposed to start working out at the place where my parents go for my dad's cardiac rehab if I can get the permission slip signed by a doctor today.

Hope everyone has a good day and a great week!

Well I went super crazy last night....
Went out to mexican with my girlfriends. Drank iced tea and had eggs/potatoes/beans with tortillas...salsa....sour cream..guac... Then we had flan for dessert

I gained 3 lbs over night!

What's wrong with me, I can't stay focused

THen F came over last night around 10 and I didn't get to sleep until close to midnight and then woke up at 5....so I'm tired...I can't exercise when I'm tired like this my body just doesn't feel like it works. Dunno, something's got to give I've got to figure out how to spend time with him and still sleep normal hours.

*sigh*

I feel like such a loser today and not the good kind.

I'm starting over on my eating. Had my normal protein shake for breakfast. Just have to figure out a 'good for you' dinner.

WOW Laura!!! You are almost there!!!

I am so excited for you!!!!

I'm holding back more water than the Hoover Dam right now and have to weigh in at TOPS. I haven't lost anything in the last week due to the monthly hooligan wot causes my rings to be tight on my fingers.

I have a favor to ask! I don't know if you guys know, but I'm trying to get 2,000 page views or more to my Denver Post Cauliflower Pizza column. If you wouldn't mind clicking this link once (any more than that won't matter) and/or passing the recipe on to friends with the link if they're looking for a low-carb, gluten-free, vegetarian, diabetic-friendly, even lactose-free pizza, lasagna and bread sticks recipe, I would be so thankful!

Pizza, bread sticks and lasagna from CAULIFLOWER! > Mixed Bag > Blogs > Longmont > YourHub.com

You don't have to register or leave a comment. This is just pure viewership, and will help me out tremendously (and I won't be asking ever again! It's tiring, and I hate annoying my friends).

I'm published through the Denver Post and Rocky Mountain News Your Hub many weeks, so this is a way of showing support for me as a writer, and will help me possibly come into some money as a writer (a small amount of prize money is being awarded this one time).

Why am I doing this? Because it's Monday, which is the day before Tuesday, which is weigh-in day. And by the looks of the scale I'm not doing too hot this week. So I'm going to try the morning thing. Then I'll go back to the gym after school for strength training and another hour of cardio. Yes, yes, I'm insane.

Happy Anniversary!

Good for you, for just picking up a good protein shake to break your fast and to get back on track.

I'm hoping that drinking plenty of water today will help flush out some of those carbs FAST, before they turn into anything more than fluid weight. Let's hope!

Sounds as if you are having LOTS of fun in your newly slim (hey, it's all relative) body. If you can get F to do some vertical activity, like dancing, he may have a place in your life as you pare down and get even buff-er than you already are. Men follow direction, so getting him to sign up for a dance class may be a lot easier than you think. Imagine what fun, to dance with a partner you already know so well - and find so interesting. Oh, Des, have fun! Just design a life that fits in with your goals. Oh, me too? Yeah...uh...

Toot-toot-toot say the train whistles; next stop TWOterVille!

Laura, how wonderful that you have held your weight so well during all the upset of moving. I'm so proud of you! I can hardly wait for the report that you are in TWOterVille. Any day now, I'm sure, as you settle in and begin to work out with your dad. Your folks must be so glad to have you safely home again - and looking so darn good too! Can you rent a bed for your own place so you can hang with the kitties and get to know your own neighbors while you await arrival of your furniture?

Okay, Des, I'm with you on this. Pretty basic, but that's where I am: Dodging carbs, with hands that do not seem to GET IT, that casual eating creates great wads of fat all over my body! Plan for today is eggy-salad on bran-rye fiber crackers (and not a lot of them) with some sardines on the side. Lots of water. Already did a protein jolt for 500calories with 40g of protein that will hold me nicely until midday. That really helps get me off to a good start. Using raw cacao not only cuts some of the stevia sweetness in the WPP but it gives me the feeling of indulgence in a chocolaty morning hot drink. Yummers!

40g of protein in a hot slosh (WPP+cacao+VCO+espresso)

Getting some protein in hours before I am ready to go to the kitchen to cook - or to deal with carby temptations that are all over the place - is what my hot slosh is about. It's right at hand, mixes fast, nourishes me as I contemplate the day ahead. I'm glad of it and will likely use it daily for a long long time.

As my weight drops, I'll back off using double scoops of WPP. Just now, I need all 40g of protein to get a jumpstart on a day's goal of 148g of protein for my 400+ - not that I ever reach 148g, but it's something to aim for.

Just collected some data from my scale, to see if I am moving in a positive direction and to encourage me to think LC - just for today, one day at a time - and to keep my commitment to Des (not to eat carby junk today). I show a tiny move downward, which is recorded in BIG RED NUMBERS in my datebook so I can (maybe) remember that my goal is to find my way to ONEderLand in this lifetime. Sigh. I tend to 'forget' in the face of carby temptations!

Oh, I added a dose of psyllium this morning. Got to get stuff mo-o-oving!

My husband is grilling steaks for our anniversary dinner tonight... we splurged on some good cuts instead of going out to eat. He's having a porterhouse and I'm having a nice little NY Strip. Baked potato for him and a caesar salad minus croutons for me.

I want to make a dessert, but it has to be LC friendly and also taste good enough for my non-LC husband to enjoy! I'm going to look at Linda Sue's site and the recipe room here... but what are your suggestions?

It was hard waking up at 4:30 this morning! But I got in nearly an hour on the elliptical machine. It's amazing how some exercise in the morning makes me feel so much more energized than when I wait and do it in the afternoon. I don't even feel like I woke up at 4:30. I don't see this becoming a daily thing, though, because I like to sleep... and sleeping is good for weight loss, too!

Pavlova (meringue topped with egg custard, whipped cream)

Check out recipes for Pavlova, for a decadent LC dessert. Cover with berries or just add mounds of whipped cream. It's all good. Some roll it, others just let it lie flat and heap the meringue with all manner of toppings that fit their LC plan.
Quote:
A successful meringue is the result of coating foam bubbles (the egg white) with a sugar solution then carefully drying out the water. The sugar/Splenda forms a crystaline matrix where the egg proteins have formed bubbles. The acid (tartaric acit) helps the process by hardening the egg proteins rapidly before the foam can collapse. It's a delicate process that is 50% skill and 50% luck. It might take a time or two before you get the "perfect" shells. Keep trying and eat your mistakes.

Low Carb Pavlova recipe
See Sugar-Free Custard Sauce Recipe - Low Carb Stirred Custard - Soft Egg Custard Without Sugar for a LC egg custard, if you want that for your Pavlova. Good with or without custard. Your choice. Yummers!

Nice idea to plant in anyone's mind, about feeling energized by a morning workout. I can feel it taking root, even in my slothful mind. I'm so proud of you for making this effort. Hope it pays off BIG TIME at the scale!

Chocolate mousse? Oh, decadent!

Toss on a few fresh raspberries, a fresh mint leaf, just to dress it all up a bit.
