Ah, so glad to hear you will be working toward a goal - and not using chocolate to avoid beginning your journey to goal weight.

I am new to the Joy of Weighing, to knowing my true weight. Just bought a scale that talks and that weighs up to 440# - much more than you need, I'm sure, but just about right for me at my current weight.

I've lost 5# (a couple of times) since buying the scales. Am hopeful that I shall lose more weight in March - and maybe just lose that weight ONCE instead of several times over!

Welcome to a super support list. We share ups and downs - and it's a lot less grim to share our disappointments here than to stuff feelings with carbs.

I know the feeling. And you're right, peanut butter's not on the list for induction.

Just think - you're working on it! You're doing something about it! Embrace that and give yourself a pat on the back. What's done is done, right?

I have a scale from Wal Mart that goes over 300 - it's not digital, though. It's one of the cheap ones. I'm mad at it right now because it's a &*^%$ liar, but that's a post for another time!

Where did you get the talking scale? Was it expensive? We had a digital scale that weighed more, but it was kinda screwy. You could step on it 3 times in a row, immediately following each other and get a different weight each time. Not worth it to track progress.

I'm getting better about getting aboard before the 8-second window closes and the scale turns itself off. See http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/lo...4th-b-day.html for some of my initial challenges in using this scale from SaveOnScales.com - and I did NOT get the scale that cracks jokes like ONE AT A TIME. No way!!!

Cheesy Crack Slaw, as addictive as Heroin Wings?

This recipe sounds like something that gets better as it mellows in the fridge: Cheesy Crackslaw and I'm thinking to work up a version based on ground turkey (to avoid the beef recalls that are rampant in SoCal just now - so scary!). Anyone else?

How funny! I read through the thread. I don't know if I could weigh daily and be comfortable with it.

I'm committing to weekly weighing and I write the number BIG and RED on my datebook to help me remember - as odd as it seems - that eating at will is not compatible with reaching my goal of 199# in this lifetime. I just forget. I do!

I got so excited about my shift in attitude (got lots more at my BLOG, if you have the patience to read there) toward weighing myself and to knowing what I weigh that I did allow a midweek weighing. It was funny how excited I was to see what number came up in the wee hours of that Wednesday morning. Weird!

It's just a number. It's not my value as a human being. Just a number, really.

lol! Mine is in red and green in my siggy. I am hoping the Christmas colors cheer me up, even if I don't lose much. lol. And lately progress is slow, but then I have added workouts and I think its about building muscles and endurance right now than weight loss. Soon the numbers will even out and start dropping well again.

Valerie, WTG on the inches and 8 pounds lost for Feb! Yeah!

debkeversole, woo hoo on the 5 pounds lost!

Hot Tamale, LOL so now we have another character to add: Wooshie the fairy. Hopefully Wooshie is more powerful than Carby. Grats on your woosh! Sounds like you are really trying hard to do all the right things and it's paying off!

Zer, I saw that recipe for Cheesy Crackslaw too and I want to try it when I have time. At this rate looks like over Spring break! haha.

I'm curious about the "carby mouthfuls" you always mention. You live in a roommate situation right? Do you all share food or do you have your own food? Cuz I was going to say if you don't buy it in the first place it can't tempt you later.....but if there is carby stuff your roommates put in the fridge and you can see it everytime you open it....that would be a little more tricky. If that is the situation maybe you can imagine your roommate(s) ate out of the container with a spoon and got cooties in it!

MissMinda! Glad you joined us.

N2LN, crossing my fingers that you don't have any issues getting back on plan. That is always my downfall. Good on you for making good choices and not using this to go hog wild.

Bandy1, although you're not fully back on plan yet, even small efforts count. The less sugar in one's body the better, right?

eaglesmate, good job staying on plan. Maybe you can throw that bar away? Although I know how hard it is to "waste" food. I will avoid going back on plan sometimes when I have a dollar bag of rice to use up in the cupboard.

Laura, glad you made it back to the States OK. How are your kitties adjusting? How are YOU adjusting? Keep us updated. We all want to hear about you getting all settled in with an apt and some furniture and stuff.

dantesmom, WTG on getting out there and walking! How did your turkey meatballs come out? I made a turkey meatloaf once but it was pretty dry.

Hi Des! Hi Gettinserious!

I'm still going along at a fast clip. Looking forward to another great weigh-in on Monday. I'm really making an effort to watch portions and try to not make a meal out of pepperoni's and cream cheese. hehe. Trying to just stick with real meats and veggies. I'm still eating on that huge batch of steak I grilled up a few days ago. And still loving the oven roasted fresh green beans. That is my current favorite meal.

Today my DH saw an ad on craigslist that a used bookstore was going out of business and selling all their books for 25 cents each! So we drove 45 mins to the store and loaded up. We got 50 books for just over 12 bucks. What a deal! I wanted to buy so many more but DH hustled me out of the store. haha. I have a hard time passing up "deals" but realistically it will take me at least a year to read all these books with how busy I am lately.

Today was a lovely day, scattered showers with big puffy white and grey clouds in the sky. After hitting the bookstore DH and I took the backroads home. Oregon is so beautiful. I love all the trees and greenery. On the way home we stopped by Popeye's. I got 1 breast which was 8 carbs. It's the only carbs I've had so far today so hopefully I should be OK. Ate cold steak for b'fast. I love cold steak dipped in a bit of salt. mmmm.

Have a great rest of the weekend ladies!

Carby mouthfuls seems a way to allude to stuff without naming specific foods that MIGHT trigger a reader to drool and lust after anything. My food diary is specific, but 'carby mouthful' is sufficient for confessions of weak or mindless eating. There is no way to tell what might be lying about here, so I try to stay out of that part of the house. Get in and get out, when I go for a meal. I find that dawdling almost always results in grazing. I'm just weak. Sigh.

I'm pretty good about buying only LC stuff. It's the occasional and unpredictable stuff that catches me off guard and tempts me. Cooties? Euw! (What flavor cooties would that be? asks my Feast Beast, a greedy gobbler!)

Stinky-sock? Hmmm...given that my favorite foods are Asiago and sardines, could be that 'stinky' is a provocative flavor - for me and for my Feast Beast!

Actually, the host is appallingly attracted to sugary foods, so many of the foods lying about are sugary cereals and pastries and such. Not THAT attractive to a person who is learning how toxic sugar is for a body that aches in response to a hefty dose of sugar. I've learned at least that much from doing LC, that my body prefers less sugar than is commonly ingested by anyone eating any food processed in the USA - sugar being presented in many forms on any ingredient label that one reads. Horrifying to see how many foods are sugared in some way. But I still find myself thinking WHY NOT? as I browse to find eggs to cook - and see faster options at hand.

That's why I sometimes slam in a tin of tiny fishies awash in olive oil - as a first course, a fish course (if you will) - to slow down the urge to grab/inhale whatever is handy when I go to the kitchen area. Having 20g of protein in me really enhances my chances of surviving casual carby temptation as I create a proper meal on a plate that I can sit and enjoy in a civilized manner, chewing mindfully and contemplating a variety of flavors and textures.

Often, just a tin of tiny fishies does the trick when I have nighttime urges to head for the kitchen. Just now, I am using WPP+cacao+VCO to satisfy that midnight urge for "a little something" to quiet the Feast Beast. Not so stinky as a tin of sardines - and twice as much protein into me to nourish my cells.

It's been 13hrs since my last meal - that tunafish that I finished up midday on Saturday. Nibbled some pumpkin seeds with fiberous hulls, a Tbs at a time, during the day, and drank up quite a bit of water and felt satisfied. Awoke at 1am with a pressing need to let go of some fluid. Am now content with my 16oz of hot slosh warm in my tummy. I'm set for the night. G'night, all.

Awake (again) at nearly 6:30am and listening to freeway traffic and a bird who is twittering-chittering - sort of hoping for a response. I too am hoping for a response, but no one is here. All of y'all are still abed or maybe up and OUT already. Sunday morn. Looks like a peaceful day. Have a good LC day!

Might go see if there are eggs to scramble in VCO. Yummers! Love scrambly eggs, all golden and full of good nutrition. Not bad with Asiago grated on top!

VCO = virgin coconut oil

VCO adds an interesting flavor to scrambled eggs. Just let the eggs firm up on a low heat, so they turn golden and custardy. Then add a pat of butter to flavor up the eggs, or maybe grate some Asiago cheese on top. Yummers!
