CALLANETICS CHALLENGE MARCH 2008

Welcome to a new month of Callanetics....Join us in the Magic!

Callanetics is a series of small, gentle, precise motions consistently applied that activate the body's largest most powerful muscles to quickly tighten hips, buttocks, inner and outer thighs; flatten the tummy; lift the bust and firm underarms and tone the entire body. It will also dramatically improve your posture. You will feel the difference after one hour and most people actually see a difference after two hours.

Callanetics is as therapeutic as it is effective. You will sleep better, relieve stress, and minor aches and pains you may be used to experiencing regularly will suddenly disappear. ......the magic!

Callanetics is a good workout program for people experiencing knee pain.

Callanetics will also dramatically improve your posture. You will feel the difference after one hour and most people actually see a difference after two hours. By following the simple 60 minute Callanetics workout twice a week, the body you always dreamed about is only hours away.

If you are new to Callanetics, here are some common questions/answers (from Callanetics 10-in-10 book):

Q: Do you have to diet as well as exercise?
A: No. A person who is 10 to 15 pounds overweight can pull in so that his or her clothing is two sizes smaller without shedding a pound. If you do lose 10 pounds it will look like 20.

Q: How often do I have to do Callanetics?
A: One hour twice a week will get spectacular results. Once you have reached your perfect figure, maintance can be reduced to 1 hour a week.

Q: Do I have to start with a whole hour of exercise right at the beginning?
A: No, it is preferable to spread out the first hour over 4 days in 15-minute segments, until the exercises become easy enough for you to continue them for a full hour at a stretch.

Q: Will I still see results if I exercise only 15 minutes a day?
A: Absolutely. The results are as visible as if you did them all at once. It just takes a little longer that way.
______

The magic is only a few hours away!

Looking forward to another month of the magic.

So glad to see the progress made by you guys in the last few posts of the February thread! Way to go! We share in your excitment!

Hapi, that color-code thing sounds like a great idea...a bouquet of inspiration for your hard work!

Lisa, that progress will continue to happen as you keep at it, and you'll get stronger, leaner, and more flexible with every session!

I am posting out of town, at a seminar. I should share that a colleague of mine has expressed interest in Callanetics. We discussed the program on our drive to the seminar, and she's very anxious to get started.

Spread the good news. Let everyone in on the magic!

I'm looking forward to a great Callanetics month. Last night my DH mentioned that my thighs looked smaller...that's after only 6 hrs of 10/10 and 1 hr of Evolution!!! I had noticed that my jeans are a little looser, but I wasn't sure if anyone else would. I'm so excited! I can't wait to see more improvement.

My plan for today is spin class and 10/10.

Feel great today after finishing my 5th hour last night. I am excited to start the Cardio Callanetics which will be a great challenge for me. I will continue working on my goals of regaining strength and flexibility and hopefully turning my melons into grapefruit. I would definitely recommend Callanetics to anyone else who has Fibromyalgia.

Good morning! I would like to join this March Callanetics challenge thread, if you all will have me. So far, I have completed 2 hours of 10 in 10 and, although I can't do all the repetitions, I can feel somethng working. I have 50 pounds to lose and so my "results" may not show up as much since it isn't just 10 or 15 pounds, like mentioned on the first post of this thread, but after just 2 hours, my body feels great!

Hello all! I'm putting my Callanetics goal for the month at 12 hours. I've given up the idea of being able to wear a bikini this season (it's summer here!), but I'm still really hoping to see some visual results in my abs in the next few weeks.

Today went for a good long walk and I've been drinking my fresh raw green juice each morning...when green is my dominant color at each meal I just feel so much better, the chlorophyll really seems to shift my body and mood for the better...oh yeah and an hour of 10/10 complete with wobbly legs!

Hapi, I have been tracking my stats in Excel and I use the cell shading feature to color different things (eg 10/10 is yellow, 1st day of period is red etc). It really helps me to glance and get a quick feel for what I've been up to (or not, as the case may be!)

I completed hour 7 of 10/10 and my legs were too tired to go to spin class.

My goal for the month is 15 hours of 10/10 and Evolution combined, so I can add in Super Callanetics next month.

I hope the 15 hours will be enough to get me shorts ready. It was 80 today in Austin and I ran errands in jeans and flip flops. I haven't warn real shorts in the summer for about 8 years. I just couldn't bear to show the cellulite!

lildragonfly, what great results!!!!!!!!!

Nola, I've already seen some improvement in my saddlebags area with just 10/10. I don't know if you have Super Callanetics, but that workout has 5 hips-behind-outer thigh exercises. I've got to believe those should really help with saddlebags because 10/10 only has two.

Interesting...my Super Callanetics book has 6 behind/outer thigh exercises:
Sitting Bringing up the Rear
Sitting Out to the Side
Kneeling Bringing up the Rear
Kneeling out to the Side
Standing Bringing up the Rear
Standing out to the Side

I completed 11 sessions in February and 1 today. My neighbor asked me if I lost weight, and my jeans are much looser. I've added some upper body weights (a la Twyla) and that seems to be working as well.

Count me in! You all inspired me last month to order and try 10/10, now I'm waiting for CallanEvolution and CardioCallan to arrive. I'm an addict!!

One comment/complaint I have is whenever I try to do the stomach routines my neck hurts and I have to support my head with my hands. The video says this is normal at the beginning but after the 4th hour if it still hurts to contact my doctor--I just completed my fifth hour and my neck still hurts. Anyone have trouble with this too?

Thanks!

cardio callanetics

Hi everyone, I started Callanetics in Feb. and then found this great message board. I've posted once and received some feedback from Twyla. Thanks Twyla!

In Feb, I did 6 hours of 10/10 and have just finished 1 more hour for March---so 7 sessions total. I didn't take pictures or measurements before starting but did take them after reading this board, so I have my pics and measurements after the 4th session. I plan to do an update after 10 sessions but not sure if I'm brave enough to post them! Lildragonfly, your pics look incredible after only 12 hours--what a motivation!

I was feeling stronger after the first few sessions but really felt like I started seeing a real difference after the 6th session. Another great motivator to continue! I plan to buy the book this week and maybe buy Cardio Callanetics. I was wondering what people's thoughts on the cardio version were---does it really get the heart rate up?

Stay strong ladies!

Good evening all. So glad to see everybody joining us. gre ene333, I've done CardioCallanetics several times. If you're used to vigorous cardio (Firm Super Cardio...Karen Voight's Energy Sprint) CardioCallanetics isn't that. But, I find for myself, my body translates tough cardio as stressful and is counterproductive. Keep in mind (I don't know if I've mentioned this is my posts) I'm post-menopausal and almost 55. A youthful, healthy almost 55, still I want to respect this marvelous body that's given me joy and 3 beautiful people. That said, I love CardioCallanetics. It's graceful and flowing, very ballet-like and it gets my heart-rate in my low-end range. It makes me happy. You can play just the cardio portion, it says 33 minutes. Or you can add another 30 minutes of toning. The toning is made up of mostly footage from CallaneticsEvolution, but there are a couple of moves unique to this workout. Some at Amazon (where I purchased mine) and Collage complain that using footage from the other DVD is "unacceptable", but I don't mind because of the way it's arranged, plus I don't have to change to another DVD to get my toning in.
***********************************
Oh yes, I'm very proud of myself, that's why I'm setting this a little apart from the rest of my post.....I compleated SuperCallanetics this evening for the first time. I can't feel anything below the waist and I may not walk for several days. Commando-crawling into bed now.

Hi all... i have been sat looking at my 10/10 dvd for a few weeks now, im worried to start it as i have back issues (they come and go, doctors investigating at moment)

should i wait until my current flair up has gone or should i do what i can without pain?? i am DESPERATE to get going with it as i have a small amount to lose and would be happy with inch loss only and firming of body!

Im also doing sessions on my cardio cruiser machine

to all .... ! Wow....what an active thread already! Everyone wants a piece of the action!

Noreen, have a safe trip.

Welcome, Jan!

Lisa, I'm so glad you're getting relief as well as toning with Callan...focus on peaches...it'll get ya there quicker!

Michelle and Simple Mummy, great work! Losing the inches!

MARSHA! GIRRRRRL.....Look at those pics! You are one dedicated woman. Those results speak volumes of what this workout can do. And since I personally just happen to know ( ) it's not just about pounds lost, but rather inches MELTING that can bring such great results -- as is obvious with those pics. Way -- to -- Go! (And thanks for sharing with us, as pics speak much louder than words for inspiring those who are committed!)

Mary, glad you're with us....hang in there with the neck exercises. I can tell you that somewhere in the February thread, if you'll search through it, there was mention made of how to best handle neck issues. Someone had said rather than try to cradle the neck (which is what I did when I stained my neck in the beginning), to just keep rolling forward, focus on the belly button rather than the ceiling....not sure what all was said. Take a peek at last month's threads on that issue. Hope it feels better soon. Don't overdo it!

Harley and Ellie, you guys are doing great! And thanks for suggesting/recommending SuperC to Nola. Yes, she very well may benefit from the added challenge of hips/thighs. The ones you mentioned, Ellie, all together -- floor, kneeling, and standing -- there are 1200 pulses of those hip/thigh sections of Super C.

Hapi, way to go on your first hour of Super! Cracked me up! "Crawling commando!" How I remember!

Paula, I would suggest that you go ahead and begin 10 in 10, and just take it easy. Callan has designed this workout to be kind to knees and back issues, and she always prefaces each session with words of caution for those who may have particular issues. She cautions relaxation and very gentle movements ALL THROUGHOUT. My guess is, if you can withstand the cardio you're doing, you ought to be able to not only withstand Callan, but benefit from it through it's therapeutic effects. We're glad to have you join us.

Hey to all I've not mentioned...good work on your commitments to Callanetics!

I'm back from out of town, running behind, getting ready for church soon. Since we FINALLY have some sun again, hoping to get out for a long power walk with DH today. I'm currently doing Super C on M,W,Fr these days, with cardio and upper body on off days.

Hope everyone has a grea week.
